For many years leadership development has been consistently rated as one of the top needs of management in fish and wildlife agencies. MAT has responded by offering a number of workshops and consulting to assist agencies in raising up their next generation of leaders ― a particularly critical need vis-à-vis baby boomer retirements , etc.
MAT is dedicated to helping the conservation community develop the next generation of natural resource leaders. Senior conservation leaders are retiring at an alarming rate, and MAT has been prioritized by the AFWA Leadership and Professional Development Committee to help state fish and wildlife agencies and the conservation community as whole to address this issue.
MAT staffs and leads development of the National Conservation Leadership Institute - the "War College" for state, federal, and private conservation agencies and organizations, and MAT is coordinating the development of a leadership toolbox for state fish and wildlife agencies.
